Coaching Career: Entering his 1st season on a ML coaching staff and his 12th season coaching in the Red Sox organization. Named Red Sox Third Base Coach and Infield Instructor on 11/2/17...Has managed 904 minor league games, all in the Red Sox organization (400-504, .442). Has managed 17 players that were on the Red Sox' 40-man roster at the start of 2018 spring training (excluding rehab assignments), including Andrew Benintendi, Mookie Betts, Jackie Bradley Jr., and Rafael Devers. Managed Double-A Portland (2016-17), High-A Salem (2014-15), Single-A Greenville (2012-13), and Short-A Lowell (2011). Also served as the hitting coach at Salem from 2009-10 and High-A Lancaster in 2008. Made his coaching debut with Lowell in 2007. In 2017, Febles' Sea Dogs went 65-74, a 10-game improvement over his 2016 club...The team led Red Sox affiliates with a .264 AVG, .408 SLG, and .739 OPS. Joined the Sox' ML coaching staff from 9/5-14/17. Following the 2017 season, served as a coach for Toros del Este in the Dominican Winter League...Led the 2014 Salem Red Sox to the postseason...In 2008, led the JetHawks to California League-best marks in AVG (.285), hits (1,423), and HR (154).


Playing Career: Played 10 professional seasons as a 2B in the Royals (1995-2003) and Red Sox (2004) organizations. Appeared in 506 ML games for KC from 1998-2003...Ranks 3rd in Royals history with 454 starts at 2nd base. Hit 9 triples as a rookie in 1999, tying teammate Johnny Damon for 2nd-most in the AL. His last season as a player came with the 2004 Pawtucket Red Sox...Played 58 games at SS and 13 at 2B.


Personal: Full name is Carlos Manuel Febles ("FAY-bless"). Married to Nedelin...The couple has 2 children, Karla and Carlos, Jr.
