BOSTON -- Victor Martinez joins a slew of other Red Sox on the disabled list, including second baseman Dustin Pedroia.
Pedroia is expected to miss roughly six weeks with a fractured left navicular bone in his left foot, after fouling a ball off his foot in Friday's game against the Giants.
"He will do two to three weeks of non-weight-bearing activities, then repeat scans to assess the healing and then the gradual progression based on the healing will begin," said manager Terry Francona on Tuesday.
Even with the broken foot, Francona said the second baseman continues to be in good spirits.
"He is raring to go. He will be in the dugout loud as can be, and Victor will be the same way," Francona said. "He is high-fiving guys with his crutches -- something only he could pull off."
