Beckett goes for win No. 14

Josh Beckett takes to the hill in the rubber game of the Red Sox's three-game series against the Mariners at Safeco Field looking to join C.C. Sabathia as the American League's only 14-game winners.

Beckett has taken the loss in three of his last four starts despite pitching well. The right-hander has posted a 3.30 ERA, allowing 11 earned runs on 24 hits while walking six and striking out 31 batters in 30 innings of work over the stretch. The problem for Beckett has been run support -- the Red Sox have scored only four runs in the three losses.

Daisuke Matsuzaka earned his 13th victory of the year Saturday night in the Red Sox's 4-3 victory over the Mariners, snapping the Sox's nine-game Safeco Field losing streak.
