Red Sox Foundation to Celebrate 15th Anniversary Throughout 2017 Season

The Red Sox Foundation today announced plans to celebrate its 15th anniversary throughout the 2017 season by highlighting its cornerstone programs and partners, and with a special tribute planned during the Yankees series at Fenway Park on August 18, 19, and 20. The season-long anniversary celebration will begin this Friday, March 10, with a special NESN broadcast and pledge drive during the Red Sox-Orioles game.

"In many ways, the Red Sox' achievements in the community over the past 15 years transcend our remarkable accomplishments on the field," said Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner. "The Red Sox Foundation has touched so many lives in so many different ways - whether it's helping at-risk children from the Boston Public Schools reach college, providing clinical care and support to veterans with PTSD, or supporting pediatric cancer care and research. We are incredibly proud of the programs we have created, the partnerships we have made, and the people whose lives we've touched and hopefully improved. We look forward to highlighting this important work throughout the upcoming baseball season."

The anniversary celebration will launch on Friday, March 10, with a special pledge drive during the NESN broadcast of the 6:05 p.m. Red Sox-Orioles Spring Training game from JetBlue Park. The broadcast, entitled Red Sox Foundation "Game Night," presented by Biogen Foundation, will tell stories of the foundation's impact on families throughout New England with limited commercial interruption.

Red Sox Foundation Honorary Chairman and NESN studio analyst Tim Wakefield will be part of the broadcast alongside Tom Caron and Steve Lyons. Representatives from the foundation's cornerstone programs will also be on hand to talk about the work being done at the Jimmy Fund, the Red Sox Foundation and Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program, the Red Sox Scholars Program, Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities (RBI), and The Dimock Center, among others. NESN's coverage begins at 5:30 p.m. with a special 30-minute Red Sox Foundation Game Night pre-game show hosted by Adam Pellerin and Tim Wakefield.

The broadcast will also serve as a pledge drive and fundraiser for the thousands of charities and programs the foundation supports across New England and in Lee County, Florida. Those who make a pledge of $50, $125, or $250 will receive prizes for their donation which, depending on the size of the pledge, may include a 15th Anniversary commemorative hat, a Believe in Boston t-shirt, and tickets to a 2017 Red Sox home game.

Additionally, the entire Red Sox team will wear patches on their jersey with the Red Sox Foundation's 15th Anniversary logo. The jerseys will be auctioned off after the game to support the foundation's charitable programs and partners.

Contributions can be made in advance of the broadcast at redsox.com/gamenight and during the telecast on March 10.

Donation of any amount can be made throughout the year on the foundation's website redsoxfoundation.org.
