Reds at the plate: Jeff Keppinger went 3-for-3 with a stolen base, Jerry Gil hit a two-run homer and Corey Patterson, Ryan Freel, Scott Hatteberg and Jerry Hairston Jr., each had a hit.

Red Sox at the plate: Julio Lugo, out since March 2 with tightness in his lower back, went 2-for-3 and scored a run. J.D. Drew went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Jason Varitek hit a three-run homer, while Brandon Moss and Andrew Pinckney also went deep. Mike Lowell drove in a pair with an RBI single and a sacrifice fly, and Kevin Youkilis hit a two-run double.

Reds on the mound: Homer Bailey went 3 1/3 innings, giving up six runs on seven hits and two walks, striking out two. Tom Shearn went two-thirds of an inning, allowing five runs on four hits and also hit a batter.

Red Sox on the mound: Jon Lester tossed four innings, giving up three runs on four hits and a walk, striking out three. Bryan Corey went 1 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out one.

Grapefruit League records: Reds 10-9-1; Red Sox 7-8-2.

Up next for the Reds: Cincinnati hosts Philadelphia on Sunday in Sarasota, Fla., at 1:05 p.m. Right-hander Edinson Volquez is scheduled to start for the Reds.

Up next for the Red Sox: Boston travels to Bradenton, Fla., on Sunday to face Pittsburgh at 1:05 p.m. ET. Kyle Snyder is expected to start for the Red Sox, followed by Hideki Okajima and Mike Timlin.
