Replay turns Ortiz's double into a homer
BOSTON -- The Red Sox didn't have many highlights in the early innings of Friday's 100th anniversary celebration of Fenway Park, but David Ortiz gave the fans reason for delayed cheers when he launched a solo homer just over the Green Monster off Yankees starter Ivan Nova in the bottom of the second inning.

Ortiz's shot hit the shelf that resides between the top of the wall and the front of the Monster Seats and bounced back into play, and it was initially ruled a double.

But the umpires utilized the instant replay system in the dugout and delighted the Fenway faithful by awarding Ortiz a home run.

It was Ortiz's second homer of the season. At the time, it cut New York's lead to 3-1.
