BOSTON -- How dramatic has Jarrod Saltalamacchia's level of play improved over the last couple of weeks?

"In the last couple of weeks, I've seen a player turn into an All-Star -- an absolute player that you can count on who's got it," said manager Bobby Valentine. "He understands what's needed out of him and he's delivering it."

Saltalamacchia could make a strong run at being an All-Star for the first time. The first round of balloting will be released on Tuesday.

This year's All-Star Game will be played on July 10 in Kansas City.

"[Hitting coach] Dave Magadan and he have worked religiously," Valentine said. "There were a couple of days when they were working right down until game time, and as in all coaching, you could have proper theory and proper practice time, but you have to have the good fortune of the player getting immediate results. Then they're sold."

In 29 at-bats since May 19, Saltalamacchia has four homers, seven RBIs and a 1.134 OPS.

Fans can cast their votes for starters up to 25 times at MLB.com and all 30 club sites -- online or via mobile device -- using the 2012 All-Star Game MLB.com Ballot until Thursday, June 28, at 11:59 p.m. ET.

On Tuesday, MLB.com unveiled Tweet the Vote campaign, where fans can get others to vote for the players you want. The global hashtag for the event is #ASG and all tweets using that will show up on the MLB page. In addition, each club has its own Tweet the Vote page and shows not only the primary club hashtag but also the specific ones to use for each of that's club's players on the ballot. So in the Red Sox's case, for example, fans would find nine hashtags including #SoxAllStars and #ASG4Salty. Tweets using any of those nine would show up on that Red Sox tweet feed.

The 2012 American League and National League All-Star teams will be unveiled on Sunday, July 1, on the 2012 MLB All-Star Game Selection Show, televised nationally on TBS. Baseball fans around the world will then be able to select the final player on each team via the 2012 All-Star Game Final Vote on MLB.com.

Fans can also once again participate in the State Farm Home Run Derby Fan Poll, and will have the opportunity to select three players in each league who they would most like to see participate in the State Farm Home Run Derby. The 2012 State Farm Home Run Derby -- part of Gatorade All-Star Workout Day -- will be broadcast live on ESPN, ESPN HD, ESPN Deportes and ESPN Radio in the United States beginning at 8 p.m. ET on Monday, July 9.

And the voting doesn't end there. The final phase of All-Star Game voting will again have fans participating in the official voting for the Ted Williams All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Award presented by Chevrolet. During the Midsummer Classic, fans will vote exclusively online at MLB.com via the 2012 All-Star Game MLB.com MVP Vote, and their voice will represent 20 percent of the official vote determining the recipient of the Arch Ward Trophy.
