Youk set to host annual fundraiser in Boston
Kevin Youkilis is coming back to Boston, even if only for just one night.

The former Red Sox mainstay and current free agent is set to host his annual fundraiser on Dec. 6 at Royale in Boston. Not Your Average Idol, in its third year, raises money to support the third baseman's foundation, Youk's Kids. Vanessa Carlton will be this year's featured musical guest.

"Youk's Kids was started in Boston, and we are proud to continue to support children in need across New England," Youkilis said in a press release. "Once again, I am so honored by the number of people who are helping out for our third annual Not Your Average Idol event. We are looking forward to a great evening."

Among those slated to attend along with Youkilis and his wife, Julie, are current Red Sox pitcher Chris Carpenter, Shawn Thornton of the Boston Bruins, New England Patriots linebacker Eric Alexander and former Pats running back Kevin Faulk. NESN's Jenny Dell is scheduled to attend, too.

Some big names designed holiday wreaths that will be auctioned off. Youkilis created one, as did Thornton, Tom Brady and last year's musical guest, Gavin DeGraw, among others. Autographed gear, like a set of Jason Varitek's catcher's equipment, will also be up for auction.

Youkilis brings in local restaurants for food tastings, including staples in the Fenway area like Island Creek Oyster Bar and Happy's Bar + Kitchen.

Tickets, which start at $100, are available at http://www.biddingforgood.com/idol or by phone at (617) 964-9685.
