The account, created in partnership with Major League Baseball Advanced Media, will include translations of Red Sox English language social media content, regular interviews with Red Sox players, and exclusive interviews and information from relievers Junichi Tazawa and Koji Uehara.
Fans who follow the account will also have the opportunity to participate in sweepstakes, giveaways, and live Q&A sessions with Koji Uehara.
"The support of Japanese fans is a source of motivation for me on the mound," said Uehara. "This platform provides a new way for them to follow the team and show their support. We hope fans will root for us through our official Japanese Twitter account."
The Red Sox are the first Major League Baseball team to create a Japanese Twitter account. It's the second foreign language Twitter account launched by the club. In 2011, the club created a Spanish language Twitter account in conjunction with a Spanish webpage and Facebook page.
