Buchholz advances to long toss

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Red Sox right-hander Clay Buchholz has already advanced to long toss, three days after straining his right hamstring.

"Buchholz got out to 120 feet of long toss today," said manager John Farrell. "We've still got some functional running tests we've got to put him through before we turn him loose completely."

Lefty starter Felix Doubront, who was held back because of some mild shoulder weakness, will throw his first side session of camp on Wednesday. He's set to throw 135 feet during long toss.

Southpaw reliever Craig Breslow has also been on a conservative program. He threw 75 feet during his long toss on Friday.

"He's in the early phases of a throwing program," Farrell said. "As a reliever, he's got time on his side a little bit."
