Lockdown over, Sox to take field Saturday vs. Royals

BOSTON -- With the Boston lockdown lifted, the MBTA back in service and the second suspect in the Marathon bombing captured, the Red Sox expect Saturday's game against the Royals at 1:10 p.m. ET will be played as scheduled.

The game will be broadcast free on MLB.TV,  and on MLB Network, with pregame coverage beginning at 12:30 p.m. ET. MLB Network's telecast will be blacked out in the Royals' and Red Sox's home television territories. Both MLB.com and redsox.com will carry live coverage of the pregame ceremony at 1 p.m.

With the city on lockdown and public transportation shut down late into Friday afternoon, the Red Sox canceled Friday night's game, with the team's official Twitter account posting, "OFFICIAL: Tonight's Red Sox game at Fenway Park scheduled for 7:10 pm has been postponed to support efforts of law enforcement officers."

Around 9 p.m. Friday night, 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was captured alive in Watertown, Mass., by authorities and was heading to a hospital so he could receive medical attention. The first suspect, 26-year-old Tamerlan Tsarnaev, was killed during a shootout with police early Friday morning.

"We stood together! Amazing work by all involved. #BostonStrong," Shane Victorino tweeted.

"To the JTTF and all the law enforcement officials who have worked day and night to ensure our safety. Thank you! #BostonStrong," tweeted Jon Lester.

With the city at ease, the Red Sox will get back to work Saturday for what is sure to be an emotional afternoon as Clay Buchholz is expected to take the mound.

"It's going to be a special game -- definitely one to remember," Buchholz said Thursday. "I'm sort of at a loss for words for it. I'm going to try to keep my emotions under wraps as much as possible. Given the circumstances, it's going to be a day that's in pursuit of recovery for everyone who had to face losses."
