BOSTON -- There should be a buzz in the air for the second game of Sunday night's day-night doubleheader, as Red Sox pitching prospect Allen Webster gets the start in his Major League debut.

The 23-year-old right-hander, who is club's No. 4 prospect, was one of the best stories of Spring Training, blowing hitters away with 97-mph heat. In four Grapefruit League games, he had a 1.64 ERA in four games, striking out 14 batters in 11 innings.

Ryan Dempster will pitch the first game. The Red Sox will use the extra roster spot that is now allotted for doubleheaders to promote Webster from Triple-A Pawtucket.

"He's a really good-looking young pitcher," said manager John Farrell, "and he's rested and he's ready to go."

The Red Sox acquired Webster in the blockbuster trade with the Dodgers last August. In two starts for Pawtucket, Webster has a 0.90 ERA.
