He has thrown out four of eight attempted base stealers (50 percent), tied for the second-best rate among International League qualifiers. Selected by the Red Sox in the sixth round of the 2008 June Draft, Lavarnway has played in 63 career major league games with Boston over the 2011-12 seasons, going 33-for-192 (.172) with 10 doubles, four home runs, and 20 RBI. He will be active for tonight's game against Houston at Fenway Park.
