BOSTON -- The hit machine known as David Ortiz keeps chugging along.
In the bottom of the second inning of Tuesday's contest against the Twins, Ortiz raked a hard single to left, extending his career-long hitting streak to 27 games.
Ortiz started this season late as he returned from a right Achilles injury. But the loss of Spring Training did nothing to hamper him in the early stages of this season.
The designated hitter has hit in all 15 games he's played during 2013, and his streak goes back to July 2, 2012.
