Red Sox sign second-round draft pick Teddy Stankiewicz

The Boston Red Sox announced today that they have signed 19-year-old right-hander Teddy Stankiewicz, their second-round pick in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft.

Director of Amateur Scouting Amiel Sawdaye made the announcement.

Stankiewicz, 19, went 4-5 with a 2.52 ERA (17 ER), 70 strikeouts and only 10 walks allowed in 60.2 innings over 11 appearances (nine starts) in his first season at Seminole State College this year. A native of Keller, TX, he helped the Trojan pitching staff to 476 strikeouts, the most in the country.

The 6-foot-4, 200-pound right-hander enjoyed a standout senior campaign at Fort Worth Christian High School in 2012, posting a 12-2 record and a 1.35 ERA with 135 strikeouts. He was selected by the New York Mets in the second round of the 2012 June Draft but elected to attend Junior College.

In all, 19 of the 40 players selected by Boston in the 2013 June Draft have been signed to contracts, including each of their top three selections and 16 of the first 19 picks. Attached is a list of the Red Sox 2013 draft picks. Names in bold indicate the player has signed.
