In 37 appearances out of Boston’s bullpen this year, he is 1-2 with a 2.64 ERA (9 ER/30.2), 17 walks and 48 strikeouts. Among all American League relievers in 2013, Miller ranks third in strikeouts per nine innings at 14.1 and tied for eighth in strikeouts.
Aceves, 31, rejoins the Red Sox for his fifth major league stint of the season. With Boston this year, he has gone 4-1 with a 5.05 ERA (20 ER/35.2 IP), 22 walks, and 24 strikeouts in nine games (six starts). Each of his last three appearances for the Red Sox have been spot starts and he has gone a perfect 3-0 with a 1.59 ERA (3 ER/17.0 IP) in those outings. At Pawtucket, Aceves was 4-2 with a 4.25 ERA (23 ER/48.2 IP), 17 walks, and 39 strikeouts.
