BOSTON -- The Red Sox on Sunday announced that they are bringing a familiar face home again, signing veteran lefty reliever Rich Hill to a Minor League deal that includes an invitation to Spring Training.

The 33-year-old Hill, a native of Milton, Mass., previously pitched with Boston from 2010-12.

A veteran of nine Major League seasons, Hill's performance declined with the Indians in 2013, when he posted a 6.28 ERA in 63 appearances.

When he was able to stay healthy during his time with the Red Sox, Hill thrived, notching a 1.14 ERA over 40 appearances.

The Sox also announced the signing of lefty Jose Mijares to a Minor League deal that includes a Spring Training invite.

Mijares, 29, pitched in 60 games and had a 4.22 ERA for the Giants last season.

Hill and Mijares probably both face considerable odds to land on Boston's Opening Day roster. The Red Sox have a solid lefty tandem of Craig Breslow and Andrew Miller in the bullpen, and prospect Drake Britton was effective at times in the Majors last year.
