Outside the park, the Red Sox retired numbers, along with Jackie Robinson's #42 that was retired by Major League Baseball in 1997, now adorn the walkway leading commuters from the refurbished Yawkey Station platform to Brookline Avenue. The eight oversized, three dimensional numbers, which will be illuminated at night, are split evenly on the two sides of the walkway with Doerr, Cronin, Pesky, and Yastrzemski's numbers on one side, and Williams, Rice, Fisk, and Robinson on the other.
