Red Sox at the plate: In Mike Cameron's first game for the Red Sox, he drew a leadoff walk before getting thrown out by Mauer while trying to steal second base. Victor Martinez doubled in the first.Twins at the plate: Denard Span led off the first inning with a single, and he was followed by back-to-back walks from Orlando Hudson and Joe Mauer, leaving the bases loaded with no outs for Justin Morneau. In his first at-bat since mid-September, Morneau laced a double down the right-field line to score two. Michael Cuddyer's RBI single to center and Delmon Young's sac fly to right gave the Twins a 4-0 lead after the first inning. Alexi Casilla added a one-out RBI single up the middle in the sixth, but nearly ran himself into an out before scrambling back to first base.
The two teams will meet for the third consecutive time when they head back across town to City of Palms Park. The Twins will get their first look this spring at left-hander Francisco Liriano, who drew rave reviews for his performance in the Dominican Winter League this offseason. Glen Perkins, who was sidelined at the end of last season with a shoulder injury, is also expected to see his first game action of the spring in the contest.
