Newcomer Craig out again with foot soreness

BOSTON -- After making his debut for the Red Sox on Friday night, Allen Craig has been unable to go the past two days with soreness in his right foot.

It is the same foot that plagued Craig late last season and into the postseason, but not the same injury.

Manager John Farrell is hopeful Craig will return to the lineup for his homecoming to St. Louis on Tuesday night.

"Still day to day," said Farrell. "Still feels the soreness of when he crossed the bag the other night. We're hopeful he's back in the lineup when we get to St. Louis."

Daniel Nava again played right field, and Brock Holt made the start at third base.

It marked the second straight day Will Middlebrooks didn't start against a righty after he got the nod against lefty Chris Capuano on Friday.

"I wouldn't pin a platoon on it, but finding at-bats for Brock -- they'll come from come from the left side of the infield and as well as center field. He's earned those at-bats," said Farrell. "So I guess the better way to describe it is from those three positions, he's going to get nearly everyday at-bats."
