Cameron, Ellsbury to join club on road trip

BOSTON -- Mike Cameron and Jacoby Ellsbury, Boston's starting outfielders who are both on the disabled list, will travel with the team for the upcoming road trip to Toronto and Baltimore.

However, neither is on the verge of a return to the lineup. Ellsbury has felt slight improvement with the hairline fracture of four of his left ribs, but he still can't execute a swing at 100 percent intensity. Cameron, who has a lower abdominal strain, is hoping to slowly transition back to baseball activities this week.

"I'm feeling better and better," said Cameron. "I'm working on core stuff, stretching out my legs, just trying to build some strength before doing anything small exercises. Small stuff. I'm going to start throwing tomorrow -- light toss."

Cameron will also do some swimming and hopes to start swinging off the tee at some point during the week.

"If they weren't able to do baseball things, we would have left them home," said Red Sox manager Terry Francona. "I don't think we have any idea on timetables, but if they're going to travel with us, they're going to be able to some baseball things, which is good."
