The Red Sox made it official on Monday, placing Drew Pomeranz (left forearm flexor) and Eduardo Rodriguez (right knee surgery) on the 10-day disabled list. The club also optioned right-handed pitcher Brandon Workman to Triple-A Pawtucket and reassigned right-hander Justin Haley to Minor League camp in a series of roster moves.
The Red Sox reached one-year agreements with nine players on Friday to avoid salary arbitration, including cornerstone lineup pieces Xander Bogaerts ($7.05 million) and Jackie Bradley Jr. ($6.1 million) and key rotation member Drew Pomeranz ($8.5 million).

Went 12-2 with a 3.35 ERA as a junior for the University of Texas in 2010, leading the Big 12 Conference in wins...Pitched in the 2009 College World Series against LSU. Rated by Baseball America as the No. 8 RHP available in the 2010 June Draft. Graduated from Bowie (TX) High School in 2007. Was selected by PHI in the 3rd round of the 2007 June Draft, but did not sign.
2017Appeared in a career-high 33 games over 4 stints with BOS...Named the Sox' Comeback Player of the Year by the Boston Baseball Writers... Stranded all 8 of his inherited runners for BOS and retired 24 of 33 first batters faced...Began the season with Triple-A Pawtucket, where he made 18 appearances. Did not allow a run over his first 4 appearances (8.1 IP) with the PawSox from 4/9-27, and was recalled for his 1st ML stint of the season on 5/2...Made his season debut with BOS on 5/4 vs. BAL (3.0 IP, 0 R), his 1st appearance in the majors since 9/18/14 at PIT...Optioned to Pawtucket postgame. 2015Missed entire season due to right elbow injury...Underwent successful Tommy John surgery on 6/15, performed by Dr. James Andrews in Pensacola, FL. Optioned to Triple-A Pawtucket on 4/3 to begin the year, but had option reversed and was instead placed on the 15-day DL with a right elbow strain beginning 4/3. On 6/3, was transferred to the 60-day DL with a partially torn right elbow ligament.

2012Named the Red Sox Pitcher of the Year after going 10-8 with a 3.50 ERA (54 ER/138.2 IP) and 130 strikeouts in 25 starts between High-A Salem and Double A-Portland. Ranked among organizational minor league leaders in SO (T-2nd) and wins (4th). Placed among Carolina League qualifiers in ERA (4th, 3.40), WHIP (2nd, 1.09), opponent AVG (2nd, .244), SO/9.0 innings (2nd, 8.47), BB/9.0 innings (2nd, 1.58) and fewest base runners per 9.0 innings (1st, 9.90). Named Pitcher of the Week in the CL for 4/23-29 after tossing a 6.0-inning, 3-hit shutout in a start on 4/27 Went 3-1 with a 1.20 ERA (4 ER/30.0 IP) over 5 starts from 5/31-6/24, the 2nd-lowest ERA in the CL in that span. Recorded a season-high 10 SO on 7/16 at Frederick. Was promoted to Portland on 8/8 and won each of his 1st 3 starts with the Sea Dogs, allowing just 3 runs over 18.0 innings (1.50 ERA) with 15 SO. Following the season, rated by Baseball America as having the best curveball and best control in the Red Sox system.

Made professional debut with Single-A Greenville. Ranked 2nd on the Drive and 13th among South Atlantic League qualifiers with a 3.71 ERA (54 ER/131.0 IP).
