Full name is Luis Alfredo Ysla (pronounced "EES-lah"). Married his wife, Jessica Duran, in Jan. 2016. Signed by Ciro Villalobos and Edgar Fernandez (Giants). Originally signed by SF as an international free agent on 9/11/12.

2016

Spent the majority of the year with Double-A Portland, his 1st full season in the Red Sox organization....Also made 1 relief appearance for Triple-A Pawtucket. Appeared in a career-high 40 games between the 2 clubs, not making a start for the 1st time in his career. Made 39 relief appearances for Portland, 2nd-most on the club, and held the opponent scoreless 25 times. Over 16 games in June and July, had a 2.96 ERA (8 ER/24.1 IP) and held opponents to a .193 AVG (17-for-88). Recorded a season-high 5 SO over 2.2 IP on 6/8 vs. Bowie. Tossed a season-high 3.0 innings twice (5/15 vs. Binghamton and 7/9 at Hudson Valley). Transferred to Pawtucket on 9/2 and pitched on 9/4 vs. Buffalo (1.0 IP, H, 2 SO) Following the season, posted a 1.93 ERA and held opponents to a .071 AVG in 14 appearances with Margarita of the Venezuelan Winter League (9.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 7 SO)...Allowed only 1 XBH (2B)...LHH were 0-for-8 against him, while RHH went 2-for-20 (.100).

Recorded 8 SO in 4.0 scoreless innings on 7/8 vs. Bakersfield, 8 SO in 5.0 scoreless and hitless innings on 7/21 vs. Lancaster, and 8 SO in only 3.0 IP on 7/28 at Visalia. Traded to BOS in exchange for OF Alejandro De Aza on 8/31. Made 2 appearances with High-A Salem, allowing no hits or runs in 5.0 IP. Combined with the 2 clubs to average 10.7 SO/9.0 IP. Following the season, rated by Baseball America as the No. 25 prospect in the Red Sox organization. Also made 7 relief appearances for Margarita of the Venezuelan Winter League.
